  • Engaged by a publicly traded health care company to defend and resolve on favorable terms numerous governmental investigations and qui tam cases in jurisdictions around the country.

  • Represented the largest nonprofit health system in an Eastern state in many strategic transactions, including hospital acquisitions, joint ventures and the disposition of a large portfolio of long-term care facilities.

  • Served as counsel to several prominent nationwide hospital operators in connection with compliance with Medicaid financing regulations associated with supplemental payment programs and managed care directed payment programs.

  • Represented leading nonprofit insurer in developing innovative strategic relationships with dominant health systems through separate transactions in multiple states.

  • On behalf of hospitals and other provider types, analyzed and helped structure a variety of arrangements with physicians and physician groups to ensure compliance with the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law and similar state laws.

  • Advised various clients on development and acquisition of long-term acute care hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation facilities and other post-acute providers, including complying with applicable Medicare qualification criteria, hospital-within-hospital regulations and co-location guidance, and successfully resolved issues when raised by governmental agencies.
